Community Education
SAVE has presentations designed to educate about depression, other brain illnesses and suicide prevention for various audiences. The purpose of these presentations is to reduce the stigma of depression, encourage professional assessment and treatment and to make people aware of the warning signs of suicide.
The fees for these presentations depend on the size of the group and are quite affordable to ensure access to this vital information for everyone and groups of any size.

Speakers Bureau
- The Speakers Bureau trains volunteer members of the community to present SAVE's educational presentations to schools, businesses, civic groups, churches, organizations, hospitals, police departments, etc.
School-Based Suicide Prevention Program
- SAVE has developed a school-based suicide prevention program for school staff, students and parents. This is recognized learning tool about depression symptoms and the warning signs of suicide.
- SAVE is developing a specialized, three-hour curriculum for high school health classes, allowing health teachers to use various methods and tools to educate students in their schools. This curriculum will focus on depression awareness and suicide prevention, and empower students to seek help for themselves and their peers.
Educational Events
- SAVE hosts a Suicide Awareness Memorial each spring to serve as a remembrance of those lost to suicide and support for those whose lives have been touched by suicide. This event features guest speakers telling their personal stories, a visual tribute presentation, an educational presentation and support groups.
- SAVE attends events where volunteers staff tables or booths to answer questions and to hand out SAVE materials. Some of these arenas are conferences, athletic events, schools, churches, businesses, government offices, etc. and target audiences are the general public; youth; veterans; and professionals in education, health care, emergency response, veterans affairs, etc.
