RISE ABOVE FEST BENEFITING SAVE AUCTION

May 9, 2015

The Rise Above Fest is a charity festival founded by Seether in 2012 to raise awareness of suicide prevention and mental health.

This year, the Rise Above Fest will return to The Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor, Maine on May 9th with headliners Godsmack, Seether, Slash, and Papa Roach.   Seether is again partnered with SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices Of Education).  To date, Rise Above Fest has raised over $60k for suicide prevention and is on target to double that in 2015 with your help by bidding on our one-of-a-kind auction items. Check out awesome festival tickets, signed guitars from Maroon 5 & The Offspring, live comedy show tickets and meet & greets from The Tenderloins, and signed merch from REO Speedwagon, to name a few.

The name of the festival derives from Seether’s hit song “Rise Above This.” “I lost my brother 7 years ago to suicide and it never gets easier.” says Seether front man Shaun Morgan. “This whole festival came about as a dedication to him. I started this festival as a tribute to anyone who has lost someone. If this festival does something to help one person reconsider the tragic choice of suicide, then it will be the greatest success of my career.”

In the US, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death and worldwide someone dies by suicide every 39 seconds (World Health Organization). Yet, more people survive suicide attempts than actually die. In 2011, roughly 487,770 people received medical care for suicide attempts at emergency departments in the US. SAVE’s mission is to prevent suicide through public awareness and education, reduce stigma and serve as a resource to those touched by suicide. They strive to eradicate suicide and use their funding to educate nearly 14,000 people every year through various events and programs set up across the country.

Named Memorial

A SAVE Named Memorial is a memorial established to honor and/or remember someone who has lost his or her life through suicide. You can establish a SAVE Named Memorial in remembrance of a loved one or a very special friend.

This lasting legacy can be designated to a specific SAVE purpose and insures that critical SAVE programs will continue to be financially supported. Gifts can continually be added to an established Named Memorial. A letter will be sent informing the person or family of the gift to the fund.
